Have a conversation
As designers we’re always stepping into our user’s shoes. We create a general persona and try to see how or what they need to get what they want. The client specifies a technical content requirement and our job is to define what the user requires to understand this information. Here’s a great article by Janice Redish on UXMag about using personas to answer the most basic user questions while designing a website/app.
